Bootsy Collins and Jeff Ruby to open new club

Restaurateur Jeff Ruby and funk rocker Bootsy Collins on Thursday announced they have signed a lease on their joint venture, a downtown Cincinnati nightclub and restaurant.

Bootsy’s, Produced by Jeff Ruby’s will be located in the former Uno’s on Walnut Street, across from the Aronoff Center for the Arts.

The new establishment will include a Rock ‘n Roll museum on the downstairs level.

“I wanted to stimulate the city’s first true entertainment district along Walnut Street,’’ Ruby said during a news conference at his Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, just north of Bootsy’s on the corner of Seventh and Walnut streets. “I truly believe in this area, and Bootsy Collins was the perfect partner to make this happen.’’

The restaurant is expected to open by fall and will feature Spanish tapas, or small plates, and sushi.

Ruby has another steakhouse under construction in St. Louis.

The downtown restaurant will feature a balcony over Walnut Street and two patios in the front and back.

A disc jockey will play music in the club area nightly.
